1. DNA Sequencing: Whole genome sequencing / Metagenomic sequencing / Shotgun sequencing

This service is used to sequence all of the DNA in a sample (i.e. whole genomes from plants, animals, or all of the DNA from an entire microbial community, etc). This is often referred to as metagenomic sequencing or shotgun sequencing. Both short- and long-read platforms at different depths are available, giving flexibility depending on your aims.

Number of Samples

Pricing includes library preparation and illumina sequencing with paired end reads at 2x150bp length. This uses the illumina DNA Prep kit for library preparation using unique dual indexes.

Gb (per sample)

How much data do you need? For instance, if your genome size is 5 Mbp (e.g. bacterial isolate) and you want 200X coverage, you will need 1 Gb per sample. If your genome is 3.4 Gb (e.g. human) and you want 30x coverage, you will need approx 100 Gb of data.

2. RNA Sequencing

mRNA enrichment

Illumina mRNA enrichment (best for eukaryotes, stranded mRNA sequencing)

Pricing *includes* the cost for sequencing at 33M paired end reads / 10Gb per sample using 2x150bp reads. This is the recommended depth for standard RNA-seq for eukaryotes. This method uses mRNA enrichment with illumina sequencing. Please see 'Our Services' page for RNA requirements.

Extra deep sequencing options

Choose this if you would like EXTRA data, beyond that provided in the standard quote. For instance, if you are doing metatranscriptomics of a community of diverse organisms and require more depth of sequencing, you can use this option to add more sequencing. *The standard price per sample includes 33M paired end reads/ 10GB of data*.

Illumina rRNA depletion (best for prokaryotes/bacteria)

Pricing *includes* the cost for sequencing to 15M paired end reads / 4.5Gb per sample using 2x150bp reads. This is the recommended depth for standard RNA-seq in prokaryotes. This method uses ribosomal depletion with illumina sequencing. Please see Our Services page for RNA requirements.

Extra deep sequencing options

Choose this if you would like EXTRA data, beyond what is provided in the standard quote. For instance, if you are doing metatranscriptomics of a community and require more depth of sequencing, you can use this option to add more sequencing. *The standard price per sample includes 15M paired end reads/ 4.5GB of data)*.

Illumina Sequencing for client-prepared libraries

If you are an advanced user and have made your own libraries, we offer full flow cell sequencing services for libraries that have been prepared outside of our lab for Illumina sequencing. Pricing includes library QC using a bioanalyzer or Lab chip, and cloud based data delivery (e.g. Globus), as well as shipping and customs forms for overseas sequencing. Do NOT order this service if you submit genomic DNA--> THIS IS FOR PREPARED LIBRARIES ONLY. Auckland Genomics takes no responsibility for libraries that fail sequencing, this is a use at your own risk service.
